Butadiene Acrylonitrile Rubber (NBR) Description
Butadiene Acrylonitrile Rubber (NBR) or more commonly called NBR and Nitrile, is an oil-resistant synthetic rubber produced from a copolymer of acrylonitrile and butadiene. This form of synthetic rubber is generally resistant to oil, fuel, and other chemicals.
It also has good elongation properties as well as adequate resilience, tensile and compression set. Its main applications are in fuel hoses, gaskets, rollers, and other products in which oil resistance is required. In comparison, nitrile rubber is also more resistant than natural rubber to oils and acids.
Butadiene Acrylonitrile Rubber (NBR) Properties
- Excellent oil resistance
- Good heat aging characteristics
- High gas permeability resistance
- Excellent chemical resistance
- Low in insulation resistance
